Whacky Cracky and Dolls

When I was little I thought it was cute to call my grandma, Grandma Cracker.  Later it got shortened to just Cracker.  I didn't know it was a deragotory term btw until about 5 years ago.  At that point Cracker was 86 and suffering from an ailment which makes her need narcotics.  At that point, she became Whacky Cracky.  So tonight I was supposed to go help Whacky Cracky with her meds but I got stuck at my computer with work.  So in her honor, I'll have the same conversation in my own head that I would have had with her if I were there.  How do I know?  It's always the same conversation.... She always asks, "what should I do with my dolls"?  She is preparing to go to the grave and she loves to talk about what she is going to do with her doll collection BEFORE she dies.  I have super fond memories of her doll collection but trust me, these conversations go no where. It dosen't matter who she has the conversation with or what the person suggests.  The conversation goes NO WHERE.  I do wish she wasn't so whacky though because then I could show her my virtual doll collection...

  1. I have a favorite Aunt who has ALWAYS been"Aunt Dodo". Not only did I never think of this as derogatory, but I think of it as a real name. The adults helped with this by referring to her as "Doed". It was perfectly normal!
Awesome dolls, BTW, I really know nothing about illustraation, but it is very interesting to me, as is all art. : - )
